Addu City, Maldives — The City Coucil of Addu City has opened opportunities to lease lands to people who are interested in operating guest houses and hotels in the city, for a second time.
For those who are interested in bidding for the lands, the opportunity would be opened up starting from the 14th of October till 12th of November. However, a pre-bid meeting relating to this matter will be held on the 29th of October. While the bid documents will be sold to locals for MVR 2,000, they will be sold to foreigners for $300.
When the lands were leased for the first time in Addu City, a total of 30 lands of 2,400-10,000 square feet from the Maamen beach area was decided to be leased. These lands are for building bed facilities varying from the bed range 10-60.
24 lands were also arranged to be leased from the Savaa beach area of Feydhoo the previous time. While these lands are also of 2,400-10,000 square feet, they are also arranged for building bed facilities varying from the bed range 10-60 as well.
Only one land was previously leased from the Venbolhofishi zone of Maradhoo, this was of 10,000 square feet to build a city hotel of 60 beds.
Furthermore, lands have also been leased from the Kaviaa beach area of Hulhudhoo. These were 25 lands of 2,400-10,000 square feet as well. Out of the 25 lands, 20 lands are given for the purpose of building guesthouses.
While 16 lands were leased from the Koaganna area of Meedhoo, 13 of these lands are given for the purpose of building guesthouses. The lands leased in this area are also of 2,400-10,000 square feet.
Addu City is the southernmost atoll of Maldives. While the city has inhabited islands named Hithadho, Maradhoo, Maradhoofeydhoo, Feydhoo and Gan on the western side of the Atoll, all of these lands are linked by a man-made causeway. The city also has lands on the eastern side of the atoll. They are Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo and the tourist resorts Herathera and Shangri-la’s Villingilli Resort & Spa.
