Male’, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has reported that a 36th death due to Covid-19 has been recorded in the Maldives.
As per the announcement of HEOC, a 67 year old local male admitted at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility passed away while seeking treatment for the virus. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family. May Allah grant his soul eternal peace in heaven.” read the brief statement by the Center.

With this, the death toll of the country is at 36, having have recorded two deaths just within this week. As of date, the deceased accounts for 30 elderly Maldivian nationals, 5 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.
While a total of 11,154 people have been confirmed for the virus in Maldives, 9,995 people have completely recovered from it up to date. Currently there are only 1,117 active Covid-19 cases in Maldives.
Since the lock-down was eased in Maldives, a surge was observed in the country with numbers above 100 on an average day. However, numbers have since come down as numbers remain below one hundred. With this, authorities have slowly started easing restrictive measures again, starting by decreasing the duration of curfew in the Male’ region from between 22:00 and 05:00, to 23:00 and 04:00.
