2020 US elections: Biden leads tight race for Presidency

As the whole world waits impatiently to find out who the next President of America will be, Democratic candidate Joe Biden seems to be holding on the lead for now with 209 electoral votes, as incumbent Donald Trump trails behind with 118.

So far, vote counts show Biden has secured 56,523,220 votes, which account for 49.8% of the votes, while Trump is close behind with 55,188,204 votes which is 48.6%.

However, currently Trump seems to be leading in the swing states, which are key states both candidates. Take a look at the latest results as per the Associated Press:

So far, according to ‘The Indian Express’, Trump has won Alaska, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wyoming, Indiana, South Carolina and Utah.

Biden, meanwhile, has taken Democratic-leaning states like California, Colorado, Columbia, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.

The US, during the 2020 elections, is heading for a historic voter turn out, indicating the largest participation in an election in a century with almost 102 million votes already cast before the Election Day, according to ‘The Indian Express’
