Addu City, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has revealed that a community spread has not been announced in Addu.

HEOC confirmed to ‘The Times of Addu’ that a positive case has been identified in Addu and that the samples of the individual, who was in home quarantine, are being re-tested to ensure that it is not a positive case. It has also been confirmed that the individual has breached quarantine regulations and that contact tracing is currently underway.

However, a community spread has not been declared for Addu. According to HEOC, a community spread is declared when it is not possible to identify the source from which persons in a community are getting infected from.

Despite this, as currently Addu has operational guesthouses wearing face masks while out in public has been made mandatory at all times.
