Indian Foreign Secretary to visit Maldives

Male’, Maldives – The Foreign Secretary of India, Harsh Vardhan Shringla will be making an official two day trip to Maldives.

On Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives tweeted that the Foreign Secretary of India, Harsh Vardhan Shringla will be making an official trip to the Maldives on November 08.

The visit from the Foreign Secretary comes after the Foreign Secretary of the Republic of Maldives, Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed invited him to review the progresses of the projects that are currently ongoing in Maldives with the assistance of the Indian government.

According to the Foreign Ministry, along with reviewing the projects, the secretaries will also have a discussion about the agreed outcomes of the sixth Joint Commission Meeting that was held in December 2019.

During his stay in the Maldives from 8th to 10th November, he will be meeting the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the Speaker of the Maldivian Parliament President, Mohamed Nasheed to have important discussions about the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He will also be meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance, Minister of Economic Development, Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Minister of Tourism, and the Minister of Defense during his visit.

Harsh V Shringla was appointed his position as the 33rd Foreign Secretary of India on 29th January of 2020. Since then, this is the first official trip Foreign Secretary Shringlaon has scheduled to make to the Maldives.
