Male’, Maldives – Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail has said that the ministry is working to develop a ‘one stop shop’ where businesses can get all the services they require through one platform by 2021.
Minister Fayyaz said that this would be developed through the governments Tradenet Maldives Corporation Limited as a business model and that this would ease things for businesses to get the services they needed. He also added that they are working on making the business environment in Maldives more service oriented and to make things easy for businesses to provide their services.
Minister also said that their aim was to improve the relationship with businesses and their customers and that through this system they can continue their businesses even at night, allowing customers more time to get the services through this commercial business model. Minsiter Fayyaz also said that the Economic Ministry and Tradenet Maldives Corporation Limited would sign an agreement through which TMCL can give business approvals to companies as well.
In addition to this, the Ministry of Economic Development is also working on launching a corporate model call center for the ministry. Minister stated that they were working on resolving the issues faced in attending to the calls to the ministry by the end of this month. He said that currently the ministry was not able to attend to all the calls they received due to the lack of manpower at the ministry and that through the new call center, this issue would be solved.
Minister Fayyaz Ismail said that the ministry will be giving high priority to its job center in 2021. He said that the ministry is planning to train the people in the job center so that they could get jobs easily which would result in decreasing the number of foreign labor in the Maldives.
In addition to this, the ministry has also planned to bring in more investments to the country in 2021 and expand the fisheries and agriculture industry of the nation. He pointed out that fisheries and agriculture products needed to have certain health and safety requirements and with those requirements, it would be easy to sell these products to different markets of the world. Minister Fayyaz pointed out that the government would be carrying out a state level intervention to promote agriculture in Maldives as well.
