Covid-19: Maldives confirms 42nd death

Malé, Maldives —  HPA has confirmed that a male has passed away due to Covid-19 virus bringing the total Covid-19 deaths in the country to 42.

Th Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) tweeted that the deceased was a 57-year-old Maldivian male. The male passed away while recievig care for the virus at the ICU in HMF. 

Until date, a total of 42 people have passed away due to the virus in Maldives. The deceased are 35 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.

While a total of 12,112 people have been confirmed for the virus in Maldives, 11,244 people have completely recovered from it up to date. Currently there are only 820 active Covid-19 cases in Maldives. 

Since the lock-down was eased in Maldives, there was a surge in the number of confirmed cases. However, the number of confirmed cases recorded over the past months have decreased by a great extent.
