Maldives confirms 45th Covid-related death

Male’, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has revealed that the country has recorded the 45th Covid-19 related death in the country this morning.

According to HEOC, a local male was brought to IGMH at an unresponsive state and was declared as dead at approximately 1836 hrs. As per the protocol, the 72 year old deceased was tested for Covid-19 and HEOC informed that the results came back as positive.

With this the death toll of the Maldives goes up to 45, accounting for 38 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national, who passed away due to the novel coronavirus.

While a total of 12,314 people have test positive for Covid-19 in Maldives, 11,316 people have completely recovered up to date. Currently there are only 947 active Covid-19 cases in Maldives. 

Since the lock-down was eased in Maldives, a surge in number of confirmed cases was observed in the country. However, this number has gone significantly down over the past months falling from three digit to two digit figures.
