Muslim World League to open an office in Maldives

Male’, Maldives – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid discusses with the Secretary General of Muslim World League, Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa about building a Muslim World League office in Maldives.

During his trip to Saudi Arabia, Foreign Minister Shahid met with Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa of Muslim World League to discuss about several things including the opening of a Muslim World League office in Maldives.

Although no further information was revealed regarding when the Muslim World League office will be opened in Maldives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives revealed that Minister Shahid also discussed with Secretary General Dr. Al-Issa about establishing a regional anti-terrorism center in Maldives.

In addition to this, Minister Shahid and Secretary General Dr. Al-Issa also discussed about the opening of King Salman Mosque in Maldives. The King Salman Mosque is an ongoing project with the assistance from The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King of Saudi Arabia.

Minister Shahid noted that once the mosque is opened, it will be the largest symbol in Maldives that would represent the brotherly relationship between Maldives and Saudi Arabia. The Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Khaleel accompanied Foreign Minister Shahid on his trip to Saudi Arabia.
