Male’, maldives – The construction of the new thalassemia centre to be built in Hulhumale’ has been finalized to begin within ten days.
Vice President Faisal Naseem has inspected the site allocated for the construction of the Thalassemia Centre which is in Hulhumale’. The Vice President was accompanied by the Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Mohamed Aslam, the Minister of Health, Ahmed Naseem and Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Suhail Ahmed.
The current centre used for the treatment of Children with thalassemia is the same centre in Majeedhee magu, Male’ that has been used since 1994 and hence the construction of a new centre is long overdue.
Health Minister Ahmed Naseem met with children having thalassemia and their parents last week and acknowledged the common problems faced by these kids and assured them that a solution will be found to the problems. In addition to this Health Minister Naseem said that he will work hard to make the atmosphere of the thalassemia centre more welcoming so that the children feel more comfortable.
