Male’, Maldives – Kurumba Maldives which is the first resort in Maldives to start providing tourist services, has won two awards of the globally trusted World Luxury Hotel Awards.
A prestigious globally truated awards program, World Luxury Hotel Awards, has announced Kurumba Maldives as the category winner in both continental and regional categories. Kurumba Maldives was the Continent Winner in Luxury Family Hotel and the Veli Spa at Kurumba Maldives won the Regional award for Best Unique Experience Spa.
Established in 2006, World Luxury Hotel Awards recognises the highest achievements across the global hotel industry. The awards are voted for by over 300,000 guests, travellers and industry players alike.
Following those achievements, Kurumba Maldives was awarded another proud recognition: The Indian Ocean’s Leading Family Resort 2020, by the World Travel Awards in their 27th annual edition.The World Travel Awards’ brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industrial excellence. Its annual programme renowned as the one of the most prestigious in the global industry was held for the first time in 1993.
Kurumba was the very first private island resort in the Maldives when it opened its doors in 1972 in the Indian Ocean archipelago of the Maldives. Opened by four young Maldivians on an uninhabited coconut plantation island in October 1972. The resort began their services with 30 huts built of coral and thatched with coconut leaves and the first guests were barefoot backpackers in search of sand, sea and sun. Today, the resort is managed Maldivian and a proud mark of the beginning of tourism industry in Maldives.
