Special session on corruption reporting to be held tonight

Male’, Maldives – A special session on corruption reporting, highlighting the challenges faced by journalists in reporting news about corruption, has been scheduled to be held during the Maldives Transparency and Anti-Corruption Conference tonight.

The session which is to be held at conference organized by Transparency Maldives (TM) and Anti Corruptions Commission (ACC), is organized by Maldives Journalists Association (MJA).

Panelists at the session scheduled for 20:30 via Zoom are, Informations Commissioner and former journalist at ‘Haveeru’, Hussain Fayaaz Moosa, Editor at ‘Mihaaru’, Moosa Latheef, journalist at ‘Al Jazeera’, Zaheena Rasheed, and Founder and Editor in Chief of ‘adduLIVE’, Mohamed Sharafuddin. It has also been announced that the session would be moderated by the General Secretary of MJA, and Managing Director at Sun Online, Ahmed Naaif.

The session is expected to highlight the role of journalists in investigative and critical reporting to expose corruptions as well as the challenges faced by media in such situations.

The session will also allow viewers to send in their questions to the panelists, during which the panelists will also share experiences in reporting prior to Maldives becoming open to democracy as well as since the new constitution.
