President confers national awards at National Unity Day ceremony

Male’, Maldives – President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conferred national awards including National Award of Honour, National Award of Recognition, National Award for Special Achievement and also a special medal for memorising the Holy Quran, at a special ceremony held at Republic Square last night, inorder to mark National Unity Day.

The National Award of Honour was presented to 14 Individuals while the President presented the National Award of Recognition to 24 individuals at the ceremony. Recipients of the National Award of Honour received a shield of honour and a badge of honour while the recipients of the National Award of Recognition received a commemorative plaque.

This year’s honourees were selected by the National Awards Committee, established by the President for the task. From the 14 recipients of the National Award of Honour, 6 had won the National Award of Recognition in previous years.

Im addition to this, the Presiden conferred the National Award for Special Achievement to 24 individuals and a special medal to four individuals who memorised the Holy Quran entirely while attaining the highest grade.

The honourees included one individual who had achieved exceptional distinction in completing studies at MQA rank 10, 13 individuals who achieved the highest rank in an academic or training course, and 6 individuals who attained the highest rank in an international competition or exhibition. He then presented special medals to the 4 individuals who had memorised the Holy Quran completely while attaining the highest grade. The medals were conferred to recognise their exemplary achievement.

Speaking during the ceremony tonight, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all the recipients of this year’s National Awards.
