Male’, Maldives – Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) have stated that starting from the 1st of January, customers can pay annual fees for their land vehicles and receive a printable fee sticker via email.
According to MIRA, , the authority will be issuing digital stickers via email to those making their annual vehicle fee payments online. The stickers then can be printed out by the individual.
This new sticker is not only for online payers, as after 1 January 2021, anyone making their annual vehicle fee payments in person at various MIRA counters will also be issued the same printed sticker.
The old sticker, will continue to be issued until the 31st of December 2020, if an individual requests for it. MIRA stated that if there are any such requests, the old stickers will be issued by MIRA under a set guideline.
MIRA explained these changes will increase convenience for customers, in addition to contributing to the strengthening of the tax payment system, as authorities can check the validity of stickers by scanning the QR code on them.
MIRA, much like many other institutes, have opted to provide much of their main services online after initial Covid lockdowns.
