Male’, Maldives – Statistics released by the Attorney General’s Office has shown that the office provided legal counsel on over 800 matters at the request of state institutions during the course of 2020.
The statistics for 2020 were released by the Attorney General’s Office on Sunday, and shows state institutions requested legal counsel on 842 matters last year. The statistics show that the office provided counsel on 841 out of the 842 matters.

The greatest number of legal counsel was provided during the first six months of last year. The Attorney General’s Office received requests for legal counsel on 440 matters, and provided legal counsel on 427 matters during the period.
While the Attorney General’s Office provided legal counsel on over 800 matters last year, they had provided legal counsel on over 1,000 matters the year before. The Attorney General’s Office is legally obligated to provide legal counsel to state institutions.
