Male’, Maldives – The Managing Director of Island Aviation, which operates the national flag carrier airline of Maldives, Maldivian Airlines, Mohamed Rizvee has been transferred to the recently established Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL).

Rizvee, who was suggested for the post by the President’s Office, has been selected as RACL’s MD by the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB).

The company was created by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in September 2020 under an executive order for the purpose of developing and sustaining projects of the regional airports in the nation in a business manner.

Rizvee has served as Island Aviation’s MD since 2018, and was previously the head of Island Aviation’s Maldivian Holidays. While his new seat on the board of RACL has been confirmed, there is currently no information on who will be appointed for the post he will be vacating.

Rizvee, a relative of President Solih, has been harshly criticized by the public for his far from ideal management of Maldivian Airlines, with many expressing their concerns as he will now be upper management of RACL, which will run numerous domestic airports.
