Locals are the success of Maldivian tourism: Dr. Mausoom

Male’, Maldives – Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated that locals are the reason behind the success of the Maldivian tourism industry.

Speaking on a program by Raajje TV last night, Minister Mausoom told that the level at which the Maldivian tourism industry is at now is because of the hard work and dedication of the Maldivian locals. Minister also stated that the ministry is working on ensuring that the rights of the tourism industry staffs is their main priority.

Minister Mausoom added that the ministry would be speaking to the resort managements on improving the staff satisfaction in the work place and also to address any difficulties being faced by staffs and if such methods do not work, then necessary actions through the legal boundaries would be taken in order to resolve any issues.

Minister also stated that the tourism industry in the Maldives is a self regulatory industry and that he wishes that resort management and owners appreciate the sacrifices which their staffs are doing to make the businesses run smoothly. He also pointed out that many resort owners and management already give recognition to their staffs and that he wished all the resorts in the country do the same.
