Speaker Nasheed is commandeering President Yameen’s Hearings: Abdu-Raheem Abdullah

Male’, Maldives – President of People’s National Congress (PNC) Abdu-Raheem Abdullah has said that the hearings of the appeal for the money laundering case against Former President Abdullah Yaameen Abdul Gayyoom is being executed at the preferences of Former President and Speaker of the Parliament of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed.

Speaking on a local television programme, Adhurey said, he believes that while the hearing of the case was initially scheduled for January 14th, it was postponed to 21st January as Speaker Nasheed was not in Maldives at the time. The hearing of the case was later scheduled for today at 2:15 pm.

It wad postponed so that the hearings could be carried out under Nasheed’s command while he was in Maldives. These are things for which we have the opportunity to perceive as such.

In addition to this Adhurey stated that the Judicial Service Comission was just another branch of MDP, run by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker Nasheed. He also made comments on how the judiciary system of Maldives is highly influenced by the current administration in one of his recent speeches addressing the gatherings hosted by PPM at Male’ and Th. Guraidhoo.

Former President Yaameen is currently serving a 5 year sentence after his was charged with money laundering. He has now completed over one year of his sentence. While the appeal of Yameen’s case is to take place today, two additional charges have also been raised against the Former President.
