Male’, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC)’s Spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said full public immunity for the country is the top priority, therefore everyone living in Maldives including locals and expats will get the opportunity also get the Covid-19 vaccine for free.
She said this answering a question on a live program called “Jazeera Salla” aimed at conversing with the public, where questions that can be submitted via Twitter with the hashtag #Jazeerasalla or by calling in.
Dr. Nazla informed that the vaccination expenses of all residents will be covered by the government. She added that during the pandemic the government has also covered the expenses for treatment of Covid-19 positive expats in the Maldives.
Dr.Nazla was joined by Spokesperson of Presidents Office Mohamed Mabrouq Azeez, who was at the forefront, disseminating Covid-19 information early in the pandemic when the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) was active.
Mabrook noted that this move is obligatory, as expats play a huge role in the country, especially looking at the economical aspects. The two went on to discuss important details about the vaccine and Covid-19.
