Covid-19: Daily cases rising exponentially in the Maldives

Malé, Maldives – The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has informed that Maldives has confirmed additional 143 Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

112 of the confirmed 143 cases were recorded from the greater Malé area, 07 from the islands and the remaining 24 cases from the operational resorts in Maldives with nonerecorded from Live aboard and the Islands under development.

With these 143 confirmed cases, Maldives now has a total 1,366 active cases, summing up the confirmed positive cases to date to a total of 15,390.

While the recovery case had initially increased rapidly from less than 60 percent to 94 percent, it has now gradually decreased to 91 percent over the past few weeks. This takes the total recovery cases to 13,966 cases to date.

To date, 51 people have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 44 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.
