Covid-19: 145 cases confirmed over the past 24 hours

Malé, Maldives – The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has informed that Maldives has confirmed additional 145 Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

93 of the confirmed 145 cases were recorded from the greater Malé area, 14 from the islands and the remaining 36 cases from the operational resorts in Maldives with two recorded from Live aboard and none from the Islands under development.

With these 145 confirmed cases, Maldives now has a total 1,273 active cases, summing up the confirmed positive cases to date to a total of 15,247.

While the recovery case had initially increased rapidly from less than 60 percent to 94 percent, it has now gradually decreased to 91 percent over the past few weeks. This takes the total recovery cases to 13,913 cases to date.

Yesterday 2 islands were placed under monitoring prompting the HPA to review their guidelines late last night.

To date, 51 people have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 44 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national.
