The most popular getaway for UAE nationals in 2020 is the Maldives!

Male’, Maldives — The Rehlaty by dnata Travel reveals that Maldives was the most popular travel destination for UAE nationals in 2020.

Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Maldives has been the most popular destination for the UAE citizens as the Maldives immigration has recorded the arrival of 6,000 Emirati visitors since the borders of Maldives reopened on 15 July 2020 till the end of the year.

According to the booking information of Rehlaty by dnata Travel, the most popular four luxurious hotels that caught the attention of the UAE nationals are LUX* Resorts & Hotels, Sun Siyam Resorts, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas and Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi.

The General Manager of Rehlaty by dnata Travel, Rehab Mansoor explained that the reason for Maldives being the most popular destination is because the island nation is close to UAE and is home to some of the most luxurious properties in the world.

After the borders have opened, Tourism Ministry has been proactively doing various activities and taking measures to promote tourism in the country including promotional events, while maintaining high safety standards in the tourism sector to prevent spreading of Covid-19 virus in the resorts and other tourist facilities. 

Maldives also got certified as a “Safe Travel” destination which is safe for tourists to travel to in September 2020. This stamp is provided to countries which are the safest with regards to Covid-19.

Only a negative PCR test not exceeding 96 hours is necessary to enter Maldives, and travelers of every nationality are offered a free tourist visa of 30 days on arrival. Tourists can split stays among exclusive tourist resorts, guesthouses on local islands and safaris.
