BREAKING: Maldives confirms 53rd Covid-19 death

Malé, Maldives— Health Protection Agency (HPA) has just confirmed that today at 15:42, a 70-year-old Maldivian man admitted at Dharumavantha Hospital’s DH11 facility has passed away from the Covid-19 virus.

This is the 53rd Covid-19 death in the Maldives spacing over a period of nearly one year. As of late, 45 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national have passed away from the virus in Maldives.

Maldives now has a total 1,833 active cases, summing up the confirmed positive cases to date to a total of 16,155, while 14,096 patients have made full recoveries so far.

While the recovery case had initially increased rapidly from less than 60 percent to 94 percent, it has now gradually decreased to 89 percent over the past few weeks.
