Anantara Kihavah Maldives temporarily closed due to Covid-19

Baa Atoll, Maldives – Anantara Kihavah Maldives in B. Atoll has been temporarily closed due to the spread of Covid-19 within the island resort.

The spread of Covid-19 within the resort was found in late January while the resort was operating full speed with a large number of tourists including the tourists in Christmas season as well. To date, 75 staff of the resort have tested positive for the disease.

As of now, all operations of the resort have been temporarily stopped as arrivals and departures from the resort have been banned. While there are currently 40 tourists in the resort, Health Protection Agency (HPA) has allowed only those tourists departing back to their countries to leave the resort.

Apart from Anantara Kihavah Maldives, several other resorts have also identified a number of cases within the resorts. One such resort is Sun Siyam Olhuveli resort in which over 100 employ tested positive for Covid-19. There have been no reported cases of death from the disease in resorts except one death in Kandinma Resort run in Dh. Atoll which has also been able to control the Covid-19 situation and is now back in operation.
