Fuvahmulah City, Maldives – Three new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded from Fuvahmulah City.

Fuvahmulah Hospital revealed that the individual who tested positive for Covid-19 from the city during a random sampling has been traced back to have come into contact with an individual who arrived to the city from Dubai, and tested positive for the virus during the mandatory quarantine release testing.

Since then, three more cases have been discovered, also in connection to the cluster, raising the total positive cases in connection to the cluster to 5.

This comes following the news that one of the two positive cases of Covid-19 which were discovered from Fuvahmulah during random sampling has been declared a false positive.

However, the island remains under monitoring as a local transmission has been established, and contact tracing efforts are ongoing.
