Covid-19: Total 13 cases recorded in Fuvahmulah

Fuvahmulah City, Maldives – Fuvahmulah Emergency Operations Center has revealed that 13 active cases of Covid-19 have been recorded from Fuvahmulah.

According to Fuvahmulah EOC, there are two people who are on medication for a long term illness, one person above the age of 65 and a child within the positive 11 cases in the in connection to the Dubai cluster of the island. Another two cases have also been recorded from the island when tested prior to their release from travel related quarantines.

Fuvahmulah EOC revealed that the individual who tested positive for Covid-19 from the city during a random sampling has been traced back to have come into contact with an individual who arrived to the city from Dubai, and tested positive for the virus during the mandatory quarantine release testing.

Since then, three more cases have been discovered, also in connection to the cluster, raising the total positive cases in connection to the cluster to 11. One of the two positive cases of Covid-19 which were discovered from Fuvahmulah during random sampling has been declared a false positive.

However, the island remains under monitoring as a local transmission has been established, and contact tracing efforts are ongoing.
