Addu City, Maldives – Maldivian Red Crescent branch of Addu City has distributed several care packages to the vulnerable citizens of Addu City.
The MRC Addu Branch tweeted today to inform that they are currently working to help the most vulnerable citizens of Addu City as an effort to minimize the amount of suffering Addu community is currently facing due to the Covid-19 monitoring status.
MRC stated that today, they distributed care pakages in Hithadhoo along with the Family and Children’s Service Centre in Addu City.
Addu City is currently facing two clusters of which the Aviation cluster is a major cluster that has reached not only the he joint islands in Addu City (Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoofeydhoo & Feydhoo) but Thinadhoo as well. Along with this Hoadedhdhoo is also at risk of the Aviation cluster according to local news.
The Aviation Cluster has so far confirmed a total of 29 Covid-19 cases containing over 300 contacts traced by the AEOC so far.
The second cluster in Addu City is due to individuals from the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) site who tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. HEOC informed that to date, 25 people has tested positive Covid-19 from the major Hulhumeedhoo cluster.
As a precautionary measure, Addu City Council has ordered all Restaurants and Cafés in Addu City to temporarily stop dine in service as there is a possibility of having a community spread in the city.
