Breaking: Maldives confirms 59th Covid-19 death

Malé, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has just confirmed that last night at 01:04, a 63-year-old Maldivian female admitted at Dharumavantha Hospital’s DH11 facility has passed away from the Covid-19 virus.

This is the 59th Covid-19 death in the Maldives spacing over a period of nearly one year. To date, 52 Maldivian nationals, 6 Bangladeshi nationals and a Filipino national have passed away from the virus in Maldives.

127 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, with the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in Maldives rising 18,467. While 15,965 people have recovered from the disease, Maldives just recorded its 59th death due to the virus. Currently, there are 2446 active cases of Covid-19 in Maldives. Health officials urge the public to adhere to the protective guidelines in order to minimize the spread of the disease as much as possible.
