JUST IN: India donates additional 100,000 Covishield doses to Maldives

Malé, Maldives – India has gifted another 100,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII) to the Maldives.

The External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar presented the ceremonial agreement to the Health Minister Naseem and Foreign Minister Shahid.

Maldives is currently vaccinating the population using the first shipment of 100,000 Covishield doses gifted from India. The strategy is to exhaust the existing Covishield doses in the country and proceed to the second dose.

Covishield is now approved by WHO for emergency use and is manufactured by SII in India, with the license of Oxford-Astrazeneca.
