Malé, Maldives – Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof has stated that the announcement to the development of a synthetic track in the Hithadhoo district of Addu City would be announced during the upcoming month of March.
During the questioning of the Minister in the Parliamentary sitting today, MP of South Hithadhoo constituency Ibrahim Nazil took the opportunity to question Mahloof on when a synthetic track would be developed in Hitadhoo.
In response, Minister Mahloof stated that the development of a synthetic track in Hithadhoo was included in the budget with the involvement of all Members representing Addu and that it would be announced in March.
This comes after President Solih inaugurated the new Ekuveni Synthetic Track in Malé City on 17th January, where he greeted participants of the 100-metre Special Paralympic Run held during the ceremony and joined the Veterans Team running against the Senior Athletics Team and the Junior Athletics Team.
During the inauguration, President Solih stated that the incumbent government aims to facilitate young and aspiring athletes to reach their potential and fulfill all Maldivians’ dreams in international sporting arenas and competitions.
