Malé, Maldives — The former Communication Minister of Maldives, Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal has started to attend the campaigns of the Opposition Coalition.
Former Minister Maleeh, who was recently removed from his position by the Parliament of Maldives with a no confidence motion is seen attending the campaigns of the Opposition.
Most recently, Maleeh was seen attending an event that was held by PPM to inaugurate their office for the council elections in Fuvahmulah City. This event was carried out at both Male’ city and Fuvahmulah city due to the Covid-19 situation, where Maleeh attended the event in Male’ city with the former Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jamaal.
The Parliament of Maldives voted to remove the Minister of Communications and Technology Maleeh Jamal from his office on March 1st with with 59 votes.
While this is the first time a Minister of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration was removed from office by a Parliamentary no confidence vote, only one MP voted in favour of Maleeh with four members abstaining from voting.
While debating regarding the no confidence motion submitted at the Parliament Maleeh, some members of the Opposition party had shown their support to Maleeh and noted that Maleeh would not be treated this way in a coalition government and they they have complete trust in Minister Maleeh.
Maleeh’s capability as the Communications and Technology Minister have been questioned by many members of the public on multiple occasions, especially due to the issues pertaining to the internet services and prices of the Maldives.
