Addu City to lease land for local tourism development

Addu City, Maldives— The City Council of Addu City has announced that they will be leasing lands from the tourism zones of Addu for the purpose of carrying out tourism related services in the area.

The City Council has announced that they will be leasing lands from all populated districts of Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoofeydhoo, Feydhoo, Hulhudhoo and from Meedhoo as well. With this, the council released a statement detailing the land size and services allocated for each space.

Hithadhoo Tourism Zone

  • One plot of 4,000 square feet for restaurant and entertainment center.
  • One plot of 3,000 square feet for a spa.

Maradhoo Tourism Zone

  • Two plots of 2,000 square feet for water sports and diving.
  • One plot of 3,000 square feet for restaurant.
  • One plot of 3,000 square feet for spa.

Feydhoo Tourism Zone

  • One plot of 2,000 square feet for laundry.
  • One plot of 1,500 square feet for rental services.
  • One plot of 2,000 square feet spa.
  • One plot of 8,000 square feet for restaurant and entertainment center.
  • One plot of 2,000 square feet for water sports.
  • One plot of 2,000 square feet for souvenir shop.

Hulhudhoo Tourism Zone

  • One plot of 5,000 square feet for restaurant and entertainment center.
  • One plot of 2,500 square feet for shop.
  • One plot of 2,500 square feet for rentals.
  • One plot of 4,000 square feet for visitors center and souvenir shop.
  • One plot of 2,500 square feet for spa.
  • One plot of 2,000 square feet for water sports.

Meedhoo Tourism Zone

  • One plot of 5,000 square feet for shop.
  • One plot of 1,500 square feet for laundry.
  • One plot of 1,500 square feet for rentals.
  • One plot of 4,000 square feet for restaurant.
  • One plot of 2,000 square feet for spa.

The City Council has informed that they intend to lease these land plots for a time period of 20 years to carry out the aforementioned activities. For those who are interested in the offer, the council informs that the bid documents will be available everyday (except holidays) from 9:00 till 13:00 at the Addu City Council starting from March 14th till March 25th at a rate of MVR 1,000 per bid document.

Along with this, the council encouraged the interested parties to attend the pre bid meeting on March 21st at 10:00 at the Addu City council to clear out any information.

The council also informed the interested parties to be prepared to present their proposals on April 11 at 13:00 at the Addu City Council and that the proposals must be presented in a sealed envelope.
