First amendment bill to Armed Forces Act ratified

Malé, Madives – President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ratified the first amendment to the Armed Forces Act (1/2008) today.

The amendment is based on two subjects; maintaining the armed forces’ structure and prioritising retaining the most adept officers in the force. This amendment would further strengthen the retirement procedures of armed forces personnel.

The amendment was passed by the parliament committee on national security services without any changes to the initial amendment bill and was was passed by parliament on March 8, 2021, at the 14th sitting of its first session this year.
