Over 10,000 students studying degree for free: President Solih

Male’, Maldives — The President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has informed that currently there are up to 10,000 Maldivian students who are studying degree for free.

President Solih informed that more than 10,000 students are studying under the Free First Degree Program of the incumbent government and that this feat was achieved last week.

While noting that the top priority of his government is providing education, President Solih stated that within the upcoming two to three years, they will be putting more effort to improve the educational opportunities in Maldives.

President Solih has earlier also stated that the key to the development of the country is by having youngsters who have the mindset of development. And to create such youngsters, President Solih stated that providing free degree for students and providing loans for higher education is a very beneficial investment.

Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the economic losses the country has been facing, the incumbent government had continued to hang out scholarships to those who deserve it and have been providing loans for higher education as well.
