No clause in UTF agreement for Maldivians to be alarmed about: Chief of Defence

Malé, Maldives – MNDF states that there is no clause in the UTF agreement that will alarm the citizens.

The facility is needed for capacity building and is requested by MNDF to the government. It will lead to development in the future, by building capacity and help protect the Maldives sea and maritime border according to Chief of Defence Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal. MNDF pushed the government for capacity building.

We need this facility to do complete the mission as required by the Maldives Constitution.

He has stated this in a press conference addressing the UTF agreement by the MNDF.

Defence agreements with foreign forces are classified and cannot be shared.
