First female Maldivian officer to attend RMA Sandhurst, Officer Cadet Firushana Thaufeeq of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has won the International Student Award at the Commissioning Course at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Officer Cadet Firushana Thaufeeq is also the first Maldivian female Officer Cadet to attend the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The Ministry of Defence and British High Commissioner to Maldives Caron Rohsler have congratulated OCdt Firushana on this achievement.

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is one of several military academies of the United Kingdom and is the British Army’s initial officer training centre. It is located in the town of Sandhurst, Berkshire, though its ceremonial entrance is in Camberley, southwest of London. The Academy is where all officers in the British Army are trained to take on the responsibility of leading their soldiers.

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) is where all officers in the British Army are trained to take on the responsibility of leading their soldiers. During training, all officer cadets learn to live by the academy’s motto Serve to Lead. Various countries send their personnel to RMAS for Officer training since it is recognised as a world-leading military training academy.
