Officer Cadet Firushana Thaufeeq – First female Maldivian officer to attend RMA Sandhurst

Malé, Maldives – Firushana Thaufeeq is the first Maldivian female Officer Cadet to attend the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

Defence Minister of Maldives Mariya Didi and the British High Commissioner to Maldives Caron Rohsler have both sent their commendations on this achievement.

Minister Maria tweeted today, saying that she is pleased to see Officer Cadet Firushana Thaufeeq from Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) in action at the Commissioning Course at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. She wished Officer Firushana all the best in her training.

Officer Cadet Firushana Thaufeeq has also received commendation from the British High Commissioner to Maldives Caron Rohsler for being the first female officer from Maldives to attend the prestigious academy. High Commissioner Caron Rohsler her happiness over seeing Firushana attending the academy. High Commissioner added in her tweet that her eyes are shining with pride and excitement while adding that she hopes that all of MNDF is proud and excited for her.

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is one of several military academies of the United Kingdom and is the British Army’s initial officer training centre. It is located in the town of Sandhurst, Berkshire, though its ceremonial entrance is in Camberley, southwest of London. The Academy is where all officers in the British Army are trained to take on the responsibility of leading their soldiers.
