92% of Maldives Police Service have got their first Covid-19 vaccine jab

Malé, Maldives – Commissioner of Maldives Police Service (MPS), Mohamed Hameed (CP Hameed) has announced that 92 percent of the police force had received the first jab of Covid-19 vaccine.

In a tweet posted by CP Hameed stated that a total of 92 percent of the entire workforce of Maldives Police had got the first jab of Covid-19 vaccine so far and also stated that their DNA Laboratory at Forensic Services has passed its first WHO Global Round of Laboratory Proficiency Testing for the Detection of SARS-CoV-2 by PCR.

While Maldives had been administering Covishield vaccine mass produced by the Serum Institute of India, Chinese made Sinopharm vaccine which was approved to be used in Maldives on March 15, 2021 is being used in the second round of vaccination in Greater Malé Area.

The number of individuals who have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the Maldives has reached 220,768 by yesterday compromising of 123,227 people from Greater Malé Area and 97,541 from the atolls who received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccination.
