MIB introduces VISA debit card

Malé, Maldives – Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has introduced VISA debit cards.

According to MIB their VISA debit cards will allow their customers to make payments at any domestic POS terminals and pay for bills using any domestic internet payment portal where VISA is accepted.

MIB also revealed that customers can use their VISA Gold cards also known as everyday Card with the following limits;

  • POS – Daily MVR 100,000 Monthly MVR 300,000, and Per transaction MVR 100,000 
  • Touch to pay (contactless) – Daily 1000, Monthly MVR 30,000 and Per Transaction MVR750 
  • E-commerce – Daily MVR 15,000 , Monthly MVR 50,000 and Per Transaction MVR 10,000

Maldives Islamic Bank was the first and fully shariah compliant bank in the Maldives which was opened under a collaboration between ICD (IsDB) and the Government of Maldives. MIB opened on the March 7, 2011 with the opening of the main branch in Malé.
