23 islands to be leased for resort development

Malé, Maldives – Tourism Ministry of Maldives has announced that they will be leasing 23 islands for resort development from the Maldives.

The Ministry of Tourism (MOT) has invited all eligible investors, local and foreign, on behalf of the Government of Maldives to submit their proposals if they are interested in developing a Tourist Resort in the uninhabited islands or plot of land in uninhabited island from the list below.

  1. Haa Alif Atoll: Velifinolhu — 4.1 Hectares
  2. Haa Alif Atoll: Alidhuffarufinolhu — 3.0 Hectares
  3. Haa Dhaal Atoll: Kudafarufasgan’du — 1.20 Hectares
  4. Meemu Atoll: Seedheehuraa — 1.28 Hectares
  5. Meemu Atoll: Seedheehuraa Vellgan’du (with seedheehuraa) — 1.28 Hectares
  6. Meemu Atoll: Maafushi — 10.40 Hectares
  7. Thaa Atoll: Kaaddoo — 3.9 Hectares
  8. Thaa Atoll: Kanimeedhoo (North) — 10 Hectares
  9. Thaa Atoll: Olhufushi — 3.0 Hectares
  10. Thaa Atoll: Olhufushifinolhu (with Olhufushi) — 0.54 Hectares
  11. Laamu Atoll: Kashidhoo — 3.1 Hectares
  12. Laamu Atoll: Bodumun’yafushi — 3.0 Hectares
  13. Laamu Atoll: Dhonberahaa — 1.44 Hectares
  14. Laamu Atoll: Holhurahaa (with Dhonberahaa) — 0.6 Hectares
  15. Gaaf Alif Atoll: Maarehaa — 17.00 Hectares
  16. Gaaf Alif Atoll: Funadhooviligilla — 5.00 Hectares
  17. Gaaf Dhaal Atoll: Kan’dahalagalaa — 7.40 Hectares
  18. Gaaf Dhaal Atoll: Kadevaarehaa (with Dhigurehaa) — 4.3 Hectares

  20. Gaaf Dhaal Atoll: Fereythaviligilla (as a cluster) — 1.4 Hectares
  21. Gaaf Dhaal Atoll: Dhekaan’baa (with Fereythaviligilla) — 2.39 Hectares
  22. Gaaf Dhaal Atoll: Koderataa (with Fereythaviligilla) — 2.5 Hectares
  23. Gaaf Dhaal Atoll: island on coordinate number 0°22’12.86”N 73°1’28.98” E (with Fereythaviligilla) 2.97 Hectares

MOT has advised interested parties to submit their proposals at 10:00hrs on 10th April 2021 (Thursday) and o attend the information session that will be held virtually via ZOOM at 10:00hrs on 29th April 2021 (Thursday).

For those who wish to join the information session, they may send send an email requesting to join the information session along with their name, email address and phone number to planning@tourism.gov.mv before 12:00hrs on April 28th, 2021.

The application form to purchase the bid document for the aforementioned 23 islands can be obtained through the Ministry’s website and the bid document will be available at the Ministry of Tourism (Velaanage 5th Floor) reception starting from April 14th, 2021 till June 6th, 2021 for all eligible applicants from 09:00hrs till 12:30hrs (Government holidays excluded.)
