Five days remand for assaulting, kidnapping and rape!

Male’, Maldives —The two individuals who were arrested for the rape case of a woman in Male city has been remanded for five days by the Criminal Court

Two individual of the age 18 and 23 were arrested by the Maldives Police Service regarding a rape case that was reported at 20:10 last night. Police informed that they are currently investigating the matter, meanwhile, the two individuals have been remanded for five days.

The two individuals have been remanded after the Criminal Court received enough evidence collected to link them to the rape of a woman in Maafannu ward of Male’ City on Friday night. Sources inform that the two men are suspected to have been involved in assaulting, kidnapping and attempting to force sexual activity with the woman.

Local media reports related to the rape case informs that a woman had been seen forcefully taken inside a house, kicking and screaming by two individuals near the Lemongrass restaurant in Maafannu ward of the capital on Friday night. 

The Criminal Court noted that the two suspected individuals have recorded previous criminal records, with one having four priors while the other had three. The police are further investigating the case.
