Travellers from India to Maldives to undergo mandatory quarantine

Malé, Maldives – Maldives Immigration has announced that the Maldivian citizens and Work Visa holders traveling from India to the Maldives are required to undergo mandatory quarantine.

The announcement from Maldives Immigration comes after the neighboring country, and the second worst Covid-19 affected country, India confirmed a total of 3,15,660 cases and 2,091 deaths  in a single day on April 21, 2021. No country has yet recorded more cases in a single day.

Maldives Immigration has announced that starting from April 22, 2021, all the Maldivians citizens and Work Visa holders traveling from India to the Maldives are required to undergo mandatory quarantine for ten days in their place of residency or work even if they are vaccinated.

According to Our World in Data, prior to India, the United States had recorded over 3 lakh cases in a single day with the country recorded a total of 300,310 new infections on January 2, 2021. Followed by these countries with significantly high single-day spikes are Brazil with 1,00,158 cases on March 25, 2021, U.K. with 68,192 cases on January 8, 2021 and Turkey with 63,082 cases on April 16, 2021.

While in a years time, over 145 million Covid-19 cases has been recorded worldwide out of which 124 million people have so far recovered from the virus.
