20,000 eligible for second dose, not vaccinated

Malé, Maldives – Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) has urged those eligible for Covid-19 vaccination, second dose, to vaccinate on time, since there are 20,000 individuals eligible for the second dose who have not vaccinated.

State Minister of Health Ministry, Dr. Shah Mahir has said this at a time when Maldives has recorded the record high numbers of positive cases in the past 48 hours.

Dr. Shah also said that 67 percent of the eligible population has received the vaccine, a monumental achievement on an international level.

While local media reports are circulating of exhausting Covid-19 vaccine doses available in the Malé area, Dr. Shah reassured that more batches will be procured as vaccines are depleted.

According to Health Protection Agency (HPA), while 92,612 people had received their second dose, 294,269 people had received their first done until 27 April 2021. There are currently 11 vaccination centers and 04 mobile teams in the Greater Malé area with 240 vaccination centers in the atolls.
