Malé, Maldives – Speaker of the Maldives Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed announced that he has been invited to address the parliament of Israel Knesset and Palestinian National Council.
Speaker Nasheed said this in his opening statement at the parliament today, and invited opinions on the matter before making a decision. Nasheed added that he will follow the will of the people.
The Speaker of the Parliament also said that no Maldivian Parliamentarian will disagree that Palestine is a sovereign state and Palestinians are an independent people.
I, and in my opinion all Maldivians, will always support Palestine in any manner possible. … How assistance is provided is something for the parliamentarians to figure out.
