Covid-19: Additional person tests positive from Hulhumeedhoo

Addu City, Maldives – Addu Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has revealed that an additional person has been found Covid-19 positive in Hulhumeedhoo, Addu City.

In the statistics received by ‘The Times of Addu’, 14 cases have been identified from Hulhumeedhoo so far with 66 direct contacts from these cases.

The first case in the cluster was a crewmember onboard the “Newline” boat which travelled to Hulhumeedhoo from the capital Malé. Further testing revealed more positive crewmembers, in addition to a random sample positive case.

The Health protection Agency (HPA) has put Addu City under monitoring status until further notice, after an individual from Feydhoo was found to be positive after consulting the Hithadhoo flu clinic in Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) and has several contacts including high risk category people.

This is the second time Addu City has received monitoring status this year, with the first being due to the Aviation Cluster, which was first identified in two contacts of a team who arrived from Male’ for an Aviation Security Command training in Addu City.
