Maldives in need of over 500 medical employees

Malé, Maldives – Announcements have been made for over 500 medical employees to be appointed to Maldivian healthcare facilities and hospitals.

The Health Ministry has assigned this task of recruiting the required medical employees to a recruitment agency of India, Norka Roots. Advertisements have now been published in Indian news searching for medical employees.

Announcements were made for a total of 520 employees. This includes 230 specialist doctors, 20 dentists, 150 nurses as well as radiographers and physiotherapists. The offered basic salaries per month excluding allowances are MVR 45,319 for specialist doctors, MVR 23,345 for dentists and MVR 14,417 for nurses.

The applications for these posts are open till the the 15 May. Applicants must have at least two years of expertise in their respective fields and must not be over 50 years of age.

While the government is looking for over 500 medical employees, a specific reason has not yet been stated. However, the relevant authorities inform that medical staff are highly required at the moment as the Covid-19 situation in Maldives is deteriorating with record number of positive cases.

While Maldives recorded the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases since the pandemic hit the tiny island nation with 734 cases yesterday, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 32,665 out of which 25,473 patients have made full recoveries, as of 18:00 of May 5, 2021. Currently the total number of active cases in the country stands at 7,109.
