MNDF advises caution to sea travellers

Malé, Maldives – Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has advised sea travellers to be cautious of the whether as bad weather is expected for the coming five days.

MNDF stated that as the relevant authorities inform that high wind speeds upto 55 miles per hour along with rough seas and heavy rain are expected, captains of sea vessels are to take all precautionary measures.

Crews of the sea vessels are to check whether all safety appliances such as life jackets are present and small vessels which are more prone to damage under bad weather are to refrain from travelling at night or in heavy rain.

Furthermore, large vessels carrying containers are to abide by the rules and guidelines when loading the ships. All vessels are to inform relevant authorities before departing and incase of emergency, coastguard’s free number 191 is to be contacted.
