Covid-19: Death toll rises to 104!

Malé, Maldives — Health Protection Agency (HPA) has recorded an additional death due to Covid-19 rising the country’s total to 104.

HPA said that at 12:10 pm, today, a 73-year-old Maldivian female admitted at DH11 has passed away.

Maldives recorded two deaths last night. HPA announced that a 74 year old Maldivian male who was admitted at the ER of IGMH had passed away at 22:00 last night. This is the 102nd Covid-19 death followed by the death of a 79 year old female who was admitted at HMF at 23:14 last night, taking the total toll to 103.

In addition to this, a 70 year old Maldivian female also passed away hours before and a 56 year old Maldivian female had passed away at 04:41 this morning. This also comes while an 80 year old Maldivian female had passed away at 22:44 last night at Hulhumalé Covid-19 Facility and a 64 year old Maldivian male had passed away at 00:14 this morning at Dharumavantha Hospital Covid-19 facility DH11 marking the 98th and 99th deaths.

While 1,433 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday. In the statistics released by HPA, it was detailed that out of the cases, 1,294 were from the Malé area, while 134 cases were recorded from inhabited islands. The figures also included 05 case from operational resorts which brought up the total active cases in the country to 16,997.

With this, the total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country has reached 45,956 out of which 28,849 patients have made full recoveries, as of 18:00 of May 17, 2021.
