Ma. Morning View Fire: Positive cases transferred to Covid-19 facility

Malé, Maldives – Deputy Chief Executive Manager of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Umar Fikry stated that the three Covid-19 positive people from the fire that broke out at a residential building in Malé city, Ma. Morning View were transferred to Hulhumalé Medical Facility.

In a press conference kept by the NDMA today, Umar stated that Ma. Morning Villa had three positive people, and that they have been transferred to the Covid facility. He added that there were some direct contacts in the individuals who suffered in the incident, and they were moved to 7 guest houses in Malé.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) informed that at approximately 5:00 in the morning they were reported that fire has broken out on the third floor of a house named MA. Morningview in Malé city. 

While 56 people were evacuated from two buildings, they include minors under the age of 17 and 18.

The National Disaster Management Authority of Maldives reports that 32 people from 5 families are displaced due to the fire and have been provided temporary shelter at Ghiyasuddin School. The people displaced by the fire were to be moved to guesthouses by National Disaster Management Authority at present according to local news.

The cause of the fire has not been revealed yet.
