Malé, Maldives – President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with the Mayor of Malé City, Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The meeting was held this morning at the President’s Office.
After the meeting, Dr Muizzu thanked the President for his time. The Malé Mayor said that he shared the concerns of Malé residents and discussed ways in which the government can assist in solving the problems faced by Malé. He described the meeting as productive and hopeful.
Dr Muizzu had also shared ongoing projects being carried out by the Malé City Council, as well as plans for upcoming projects. The Mayor expressed his wishes to work alongside President Solih’s administration and assured that he would give full support to the government.
The President and the Mayor discussed the current situation of the capital city and ways to make it safer and more hospitable for its citizens. Urgent matters that need immediate resolving and ways to reduce recurring problems were also discussed, according to the President’s Office.
The President guaranteed that the council would receive full support and resources from the government to carry out any work that would lead to dignified living for Malé residents.
The President also discussed policies that could further improve Malé City and broader decentralisation plans during Thursday’s meeting.
